Coach Sha-Lynn has been playing volleyball for 13 years and coaching for 8 years. In college, she coached 14U and 15U club teams in the area and volleyball summer camps. Last year was her first year at SMCJ as the head coach for SMCJ 17U Rage. Currently, she is the assistant coach for SMCJ 18U Nitro and in the second season of assistant coaching for the St. Mary’s Ryken High School volleyball team. Coach Sha-Lynn played club volleyball for Southern Maryland Juniors, Bay Area Volleyball Academy, and Charles County Juniors (now SOMDVBC). Upon graduation, she played NCAA Division III volleyball at Ithaca College and NCAA Division II volleyball at Barton College. She finished her college career at the University of Delaware, playing for the women’s club volleyball team and assisting with the NCAA Division I program. After graduating with a Bachelors in Sport Management, she went on to play volleyball for the Premier League in Melbourne, Australia. She later earned a Masters in Management, and played for the Premier League in Dublin, Ireland.
Coach PJ started playing volleyball in Cairo Egypt when he was in high school. He played 2s, 4s, 6s, and travel from 18 to 48 years of age. He has been coaching juniors since 2011 when his daughter started playing.
Coach Jess was born and raised in St. Mary's County. She was a 3-sport athlete at St. Mary's Ryken playing volleyball, basketball, and tennis. She went on to play Division 2 volleyball at UNC - Pembroke for two years. She then transferred to UMD - College Park and played club basketball there while finishing up her teaching degree. She is a 4th grade teacher and has coached volleyball and basketball at the middle school level for many years. She really enjoys both teaching and coaching. She has two children of her own. She loves coaching them and watching them participate in various extracurricular activities of their own.
Coach Emily grew up on the southeast side of Houston, TX playing both indoor and sand volleyball. She graduated from Georgia Institute of Technology in May 2020 with a Biomedical Engineering degree and now works as a remote consultant for Veeva Systems, a cloud-computing company focused on life sciences industry applications. In her free time she enjoys staying active, cooking, reading, and above all, playing and coaching volleyball.
